One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to document my client's journey to becoming parents from the beginning.  Maternity sessions capture the joy and beauty of this time in your life that while it might not feel like it now, will go so quickly.  I will be with you every step of the way to help you with clothing choices (and I have a closet full of beautiful gowns you can borrow) and to decide on the perfect location wether you come to my studio or we shoot outdoors.  Read below to find out more information and pricing for maternity sessions.

Inquiring & Booking

When you are ready to book your maternity session you can send an e-mail to haleywillinghamphotography@yahoo.com and I will send you more information and help get your session booked.  You can book your maternity session as early as when you are 12 weeks along in your pregnancy.  I also have maternity and newborn packages and baby's first year packages available which I will share with you when you inquire if you want to capture all of your baby's first year. Session Day!

It is best to schedule your maternity session for when you are 32-36 weeks along in your pregnancy.  This way your baby bump is pretty big and you are not too uncomfortable yet for differnent poses.  Studio sessions take place on weekend mornings/afternoons in my Shepherdstown WV studio and outdoor sessions take place at sunrise or 1 hour before sunset.  These times change based on the time of year.  

You can either choose to do your maternity session in my Shepherdstown, WV studio or at an outdoor location within 20 miles of Shepherdstown WV or Summit Point WV (I will travel to farther locations for an additional travel fee).  I have a list of preferred locations you will receive at time of booking including locations with a stone bridge, creek, field, old buildings, town, greenery, and more.  I also offer seasonal locations such as flower fields, peach and apple tree blossoms, apple orchard, Christmas tree farm and more.  

It is finally the day of your maternity session!  I know you are not a model and have no idea what you are doing.  That is what I am here for!  I will help you with posing, where to look, and wether to smile or not.  I will try my best to make you feel comfortable and feel like a natural in front of the camera.  My goal today is to make you look and feel gorgeous!  If you have other children try not to worry too much about smiles and cooperation.  I will try my best to get one picture of everyone looking at the camera and smiling but mostly smiles are obtained by playing with kids and joking with them.  I will help with cues and differnent ways to get happy looking children in your photos.  Playing, tickling, and telling jokes works much better than saying look at the camera and smile.  

Gallery Delivery

You can expect to receive your finished gallery within 14 days after your session date.  You will receive an e-mail with the link to your gallery.  From there you can select your images and then download them instantly to your computer and start sharing and enjoying them right away.  All packages include a set of digital files with print release.  Some package include your full gallery or you can upgrade your gallery once it is delivered.  Galleries will stay online up to 1 year after delivery.  It is recommended to back up your digital files to a hard drive or usb thumbdrive.

Prints & Albums

All of my sessions come with a set of digital files and unlimited print release.  You are free to print your images wherever you wish.  But, a lot of my clients like to order prints, canvases, and or albums from me.  The professional print lab I use for orders prints my images how I see them on my computer.  My computer is calibrated for their printers and they print at a very high quality that you do not get at Walmart and similar stores.  You will be able to order prints, albums, and canvases from your online gallery.  If you are purchasing on your own I do recommend mpix.com

What To Wear

You are allowed up to 3 outfits for your maternity session.  It is best to choose outfits without a lot of bulk.  One loser fitting outfit and a tighter fitting outfit are great options to bring.  Tighter fitting outfits show your figure better and are very flattering on a pregnant Momma.  I have a huge collection of outfits at the studio that you can wear for your session.  You are allowed up to 3 outfits for your session.  My collection of dresses are stored at the studio so I need a few days notice if I am coming to your session from my house in Summit Point.  Most of my dresses fit size 4-16 (pre-pregnancy).  If you are borrowing dresses from me it is best to bring nude and/or white underwear (black if you are using the black lace) and a nude strapless bra.

What's Next?

Hopefully you have also booked your newborn session with me so that I can celebrate the arrival of your new little one with you!  Newborn sessions usually take place within 5-14 days after delivery.  It is best to contact me within 48 hours after having baby so we can get your date on my calendar.  If you wait to contact me until later I can not guarantee I will be able to get you into the studio before baby is 14 days old but I will get you in as soon as I can.
