Cake Smash Session Experience

How Do I Pick A Theme?

Cake Smash Sessions are best scheduled when your baby is between 11 and 13 months old . If you want pictures back for their first birthday party please schedule at least 2 weeks before you need photos back.  You can schedule on their actual birthday if you prefer as long as I have availability.  Make sure to schedule your session during the time of day your baby is the happiest.  Avoid nap and feedings times.

Can We Do Family Photos?

Cake Smash Sessions include the cake and setup in the colors/theme of your choice.  I do have outfits at the studio you can use but they are simple outfits. Most of my clients choose to bring their own outfits for the cake smash.  

You can use my studio backdrop collection link below to give you inspiration for picking a backdrop for your session. If you book the classic or deluxe sessions and already have a theme in mind but don't see a backdrop that goes with your theme I will work with you to find a backdrop that will go with your theme to add to my studio collection (as long as you book at least 1 month in advance).   

Yes!  If you want to do parent and/or sibling photos choose the Deluxe or Classic & Family Cake Smash Session Packages.  Family photos are done first before the cake smash so everyone is clean!

Most of my clients choose to bring their own outfit for the cake smash.  If you are doing a splash after those are done naked so you don't need an outfit (I will provide a towel). You might also want to bring an extra change of clothes for parents because you can get cake/water on your clothing.  A favorite toy that often makes your child smile and a favorite finger snack food (Puffs, Cheerios, Goldfish) we can put in the cake if baby doesn't have much interest in the cake 

After Your Session

You can expect to receive your finished gallery within 2 weeks after your session date. You will receive an e-mail with the link to your gallery. If you need to select images for your package you can do so from the gallery and will get a download link as soon as you make your selections. You can purchase additional digital files or prints from your gallery if you choose to do so though, no other purchase is required.  

Cake Smash Sessions are great to document your child's first birthday.  I love having newborn clients come back into the studio to celebrate their First Birthday with me!  It is always fun to see how much they have grown!  New clients are also welcome to book cake smash sessions! when Do I schedual?

During Your Session

When you get to the studio it will be setup for your cake smash session!  If you purchased a family add-on we will do that before your cake smash.  For the deluxe and classic sessions you can choose a backdrop for photos before your smash in either a differnent outfit or your cake smash outfit.  Next we will do your cake smash.  Some babies love the cake, some not so much.  My goal is to get pictures of your child interacting with the cake, whatever that may look like. After the cake smash we will do a splash session with a bathtub and bubbles will be added in editing. This also helps with baby clean up!
